Now, post production studios can leverage the extreme performance of Transkoder, Colorfront’s automated, standalone system for high-quality digital file conversion, to create DCPs at up to over ten-times faster-than-realtime, with no obsolescence-prone proprietary hardware, making it a reliable, future-proof and highly cost-effective alternative to other systems.
Colorfront products are renowned for consistently delivering cutting-edge features and setting fresh performance standards. Transkoder runs on affordable Supermicro, HP Z840 and new Mac Pro platforms, bypassing the need for expensive fork-lift upgrades.
It also features unique, GPU-accelerated, faster-than-real-time capabilities, which make it the ultimate tool for UHDTV and 4K digital cinema applications. These include over 300FPS 2K JPEG2000 encode-decode, DCP/DCI-compliant mastering, IMF/IMP authoring, packaging, verification and QC.
Colorfront Transkoder can be easily integrated in the DCI mastering workflows, with the DCP master created at up to ten-times faster-than-realtime.
“Technicolor has been a pioneer in digital cinema since its inception in 1999. We provide our clients with worldwide scale, coupled with locally-managed and delivered digital cinema releasing services including mastering and distribution,” said Nick Mitchell, Vice President, Digital Cinema Mastering Services Technicolor. “We’ve been extremely impressed with the speed and flexibility of Colorfront Transkoder for DCP and IMP creation. The Colorfront team is sharp, fast and flexible, and their products are a direct reflection of this. “

Colorfront has recently sold multiple Transkoder licenses to HBO and FOX Studios. Featuring ground-breaking real-time 8K and 3D4K capabilities, Colorfront Transkoder is already employed by many other leading studios, broadcasters, VFX and post facilities involved in digital cinema and high-end TV production, including Deluxe, Technicolor, Fotokem, Weta and the BBC.
